                the irony of stamps 03/25/2010

So, my new aspiring buisness venture is to break into the greeting card buisness. Most card companies (excluding large corporations like Hallmark) use a majority of freelance artists and writers over regular salary employees. This leaves a rather large and profitable market open to anyone interested. This sort of thing requires a lot of leg work as you have to provide copies of your work (which need to be labeled) along with an artist statement and SASE. But after all this work and waiting (1-3 months) for replies, the greeting card companies are willing to pay $50-$300 for ideas. This is my new goal.
I have designed about 10 differant cards and am compiling them into packages to send off. I am aiming to send them at the latest by the end of next week but I have encountered a problem... Most card companies are US based, which is fine except that I can't buy US stamps in Canada to put on my SASE! (self addressed stamped envelopes) So I will either get a friend to mail me some stamps (there is some irony there) or I will be making a riddiculous trip across the border for $5 worth of stamps!
It's always the simple things that take you the longest!
