So I have combined two of my passions; shoes and painting. I used acrylic gold paint and just went for it. when I started the first shoe I was really excited about how it looked...then I realised I had to duplicate it on the left which was a little stressful! I am extremly happy with them and cant wait to debut them this weekend!

                the irony of stamps 03/25/2010

So, my new aspiring buisness venture is to break into the greeting card buisness. Most card companies (excluding large corporations like Hallmark) use a majority of freelance artists and writers over regular salary employees. This leaves a rather large and profitable market open to anyone interested. This sort of thing requires a lot of leg work as you have to provide copies of your work (which need to be labeled) along with an artist statement and SASE. But after all this work and waiting (1-3 months) for replies, the greeting card companies are willing to pay $50-$300 for ideas. This is my new goal.
I have designed about 10 differant cards and am compiling them into packages to send off. I am aiming to send them at the latest by the end of next week but I have encountered a problem... Most card companies are US based, which is fine except that I can't buy US stamps in Canada to put on my SASE! (self addressed stamped envelopes) So I will either get a friend to mail me some stamps (there is some irony there) or I will be making a riddiculous trip across the border for $5 worth of stamps!
It's always the simple things that take you the longest!

After spending the last six months at sea performing and dancing almost every night I am back on land. Because all communications (phones and internet) on the ship are via satellite (which is deathly slow and expensive) I have been neglecting my various art websites. But now I'm back and networking once again.
After being with www.redbubble.com for over a year I must say I am dissapointed with the sales/revenue side of the site. There are very few artists making any sales at all because most of the traffic is from other broke account holding artists. The site is great for networking but not so great for sales. But I did come across a new site that boasted to have 5 non-artist visitors for every artist on the site as opposed to 1 visitor between 2 artists on Redbubble. How accurate these stats are I dont know but the site was free so I signed up. I am now a proud member of www.fineartamerica.com
I'll keep you posted with my progress on this site!
                thats it for now!
